The Consortium
The Caraga Consortium for Agriculture, Forestry and Resources
Research and Development (Caraga CARRD) is the regional research
consortium under the umbrella of the Philippine Council for
Agriculture, Forestry and Natural Resources Research and Development
(PCARRD-DOST).
The establishment of Caraga CARRD is anchored
on the realization that no single research organization can cope with
all the demands on itself. The conduct of research is more efficient if
the resources, such as manpower, equipment, facilities and funds are
shared. The consortium is an arrangement whereby Research &
Development (R&D) institutions in the region jointly plan and
administer programs. It provides the mechanism for sharing limited
resources. It is an organization of equals wherein each member can
present its programs and avoid duplication by discussing issues and
agreeing for mutual funds.
Membership in the Consortium
creates opportunities for interaction among members and the different
R&D during dialogues, regional conferences, consultations and
integrated reviews. Moreover, it provides avenues for exchange on
information among agencies leading to a more unified body of knowledge
for sound decision making in agriculture, forestry and natural
resources. The consortium is composed of four (4) Research &
Development groups, RRDCC, RTWG, RMIS and RACO.
Goal of the Consortium
It
is the goal of the consortium to effectively utilize research results
in attaining the goals of sustainable development in agriculture,
forestry and natural resources.
Objectives of the Consortium
It
is the goal of the consortium to institutionalize and promote an IRDP
that will facilitate and hasten the effective transfer and
commercialization of technologies and responsive to the regional needs.
